Vanguard Television Network, Inc.'s first project is a documentary entitled
"From The Fields To The March - A Journey of Black Women In America."
Since our sojourn here in North America, black women have always been involved in our fight for freedom, justice and equality. From Harriet Tubman to Dr. Dorothy Height, we continue to fight for our liberation. On October 16, 1995 two million men attended the historic Million Man March in Washington, D.C. to recommit themselves to do better in their community. A lot of controversy surrounded the issue of women not being invited to the first March. What was not shown, was the fact that many women helped behind the scenes to make the March a success. Women like Dr. Dorothy Height, Dr. Maya Angelou and others were also invited to participate in the program. Now, ten years later, a commemoration of the Million Man March has taken place and once again, women were not only helping behind the scenes, but were also invited to the gathering on October 15, 2005.
This documentary will take us back to our glorious past as Queens in Africa to being an enslaved people and fighting for freedom, justice and equality even now. We have interviews of women from all walks of life to get their perspective on the Million Man March and the Millions More Movement.
